I feel for you mate, when i found out abbout the possible engine change i contacted my dealer and they new nothing about it. I then had to wait for an hr for them to call aprilia and then call me back to tell me to this day anyway mine is ok, i have the factory.
My personal view is all the mechs in Aprilia dealerships were put on courses for the v4 bike, so should be competent in changing an engine out.
But do what has already been said, when you get it back go over it with a magnifying glass and ask what if any compensation is available to you. If you don't get any joy from the dealer then contact Aprilia direct. In my view you should be compensated with something at least.

Hope it goes well.

It may be that your rebuilt bike holds it's value better than one that hasn't had the swap.  Look at BMW and their Nikasil engines, mine is 12 years old and is fine, but try selling it and it hasn't had the factroy engine swap so is virtually worthless.  If you have a documented engine swap then the next buyer will see that as a plus point.  As for the swap, it's probably not much more involved than a valve service, and you'd happily pay for that as part of it's maintenance.

it could be worse if it were honda they would strip the engine and only replace the part concerned. however the so called grease monkeys are all qualified to carry out this kind of work and probably have bikes themselves ,if you show your concerns at the dealers then they will treat it with the best care im sure.

doh, how annoying

I'm sure that the dealer will easily make the change though and at least they aren't hiding away from a faulty engine which is good  icon_thumleft
