Right then.................................

Take 2 bulbs - H9/H11
Remove glass bit - CAREFULLY
Remove little cap thet is on bottom
Remove silicon sealant that is in there
Expose pins that the filament is attached to ( or used to be befoe you removed it)
Drill small hole on the outer side of each
Put wires into little holes
Solder wires onto pins - after making sure they are the right way round
refill hole with silicon
Araldite top face where glass was to seal outer face

Plug finished bodge job manufacturers spec plug into original wiring.

Ballasts go under inner side panels using top indicator and bottom outer headlight screws using ballast bracket and piece of alloy.

Or pop down to Hammy's Installs  tongue3

Not that hard as it sounds  icon_thumright
Gotta remember the oe plugs are designed to go into the bottom of the bulbs with a waterproof  fitting.
Worth it as on ours they are exposed.

i fitted the same kit (6oook 35w slim ballast) too my 2nd gen and just pushed the stock pins in and put plenty of tape around them,as when i sell bike it will be v easy too swop back...with the ballasts i put them in between the two light units one on top of the other with about a 15mm gap between them, don't listen too people saying they get hot as at the weekend when i was out (26'C) they were'nt even warm to the touch!!having said that i'm not sure if the same space is on the 08-09 zx10r's,and i used the slim ballasts not sure if you have normal ballasts??(oh and they went straight through the mot).

Hi Chris

I just stuck my ballasts in with velcro pads to the insides of the fairing.

been on 9 months and no rattles or problems  icon_thumright

Sorry missed your question on where to put the ballasts mate

the thing i notice with my 09 10R is the HIDs work every time as the lights only power up after the engine has started icon_thumright
My Z1000 would sometimes not strike the Arc after starting the engine as it's headlamp came on with the ignition switch
so sometimes i didn't know the lamp had not struck!

Regards
Rick
