Like me, many of you will have seen the episode of Top Gear when the 3 luckiest b@stards in the world, headed off to find the best driving road in the world. When they entered Switzerland Clarkson was going on about their hate of speed & they they would consider the Lambo, Porsche, and DB as amrageddon arriving.....remember.

Ok, shoot to present day....been riding my 10 for just over a year here....Got a few speeding fines within the first few months, which worked out about £40 each....not bad, no points system out here either, so thought...bah...they aint all that bad.

Then I heard about the millionaire who was busted in the Ferrari doing 80 in a 50 & charged £20,000+....laughed & thought, well he can probably afford decent lawyers to get that reduced.....

Yesterday I get a note to call in to the post office to pick up a recorded delivery letter....head on down, & the b@stards caught me......doing 74 in a 50 , at 5 minutes past midnight.....£420!!!!!!!!!!!!   boxing

Point of this whole post, other than ranting........does anyone have a Puch Maxi for sale?

i remember reading about the guy in the ferrari, aren't the fines directly related to your income/equity or something like that? (more for excessive speeeding not just a bit over the limit)

I've heard that they do relate ti to your incomce in some situations....however, the first few I got were similar to UK fines....seems now they've seen I have a few & have decided to slap me with this f@cker. It's worked...I'll be going into France to do all my speeding now Wink

& I got it wrong, the ferrari owner was fined $290,000.

Just found this: Speeding fines will depend on the speed above the legal limit and where the offence took place: a driver travelling over the authorised speed limit by 15km/h in a town centre, 20km/h in a suburb or 25km/h on the motorway may have to appear in court and the fine may be as much as CHF 1,000 (£625). Driving licences may be suspended.

They sure do!

I was out there a few years back on a car rally & one of the guys got pulled for doing less than 30KPH over the limit in the middle of nowhere.  On the spot fine of  £500, they confiscated his & the other guy in the car's passports & licences, escorted them to the nearest cash point as the fine had to be paid in cash before they would be allowed to go anywhere.

Very pretty country with some of the best roads &  skiing you'll ever find, but populated by the most uptight, anal & un-humerous bunch of rednecks on the planet.

They are even putting cameras on some of the mountain roads now......

Where abouts are you heading? Can recommend some cracking roads......worth getting the speed camera warning software if you have a GPS, or a smart-phone.

Wonder what the Swiss police would have fined Steve McQueen if he'd jumped that fence?  tongue3

Rode through Switzerland a few years ago , entering from Germany and was told I had to buy a years road tax before I could go any further, considering I had crossed the border they would'nt let me go back when I told them I was'nt keen on paying as was'nt  planning to stay long  , about £40 later and large sticker on my screen I was on my way , then stopping for fuel  about an hour later we all filled up and were told we could.nt use our credit cards ! only cash so we had to turn out our pockets and scrape about for enough Swiss francs ( was a while ago)  whilst the 2 attendents drummed their fingers on the counter This riled one of our group so much that he bought enything he could find ,penny sweets ,car scents etc just to use up every cent . Then told them they could stick their f****ing money up their arses and he'd had enough of their money grabbing country    Their faces were a picture! So much for entente cordialle cussing
