Help!! new owner not registered my 10r turbo and now i'm getting done for his parking fine.

Guy's help.
I sold my bike in February, the guy transferred the money to my bank account and sent a courier the next day to pick it up, he took the bike and log book etc.
Don't know who the courier was, as my lad handed it over as i was working.
I have now been sent a summons for a parking fine in Northern Ireland, i have to pay £60 or else!!!!!
No way am i going to pay this and will appeal, but i can see this getting tricky and might possibly end up with a county court judgement that i obvoiusly need to avoid.
I am not paying as it was not me, i'm guilty of being naive and expecting the new owner to register the bike in his name but he hasn't, what now!!!
Help?
Cheers Dave.

Do you have any proof that you sold it - ebay slip, signed document accepting it etc.??

Ouch

Did you fill the bit on the V5 in where you declare you've sold it and then post it onto DVLA??

If not, I'd be going to Citizens Advice and seeking legal advice

yikes........... that was a bit risky Dave, I hope he paid from his own accout

if you don't have his details or the V5 then i would phone the DVLA asap to see what can be done to sort it out and maybe a free 30mins at a solicitor or as Dave says the CAB

Hope you get it sorted and at least it's on the road soit does sound like only a mix up really  icon_thumright

IIRC they are on a different plate in NI? It would need to be changed over and that could be where the issue is.
You should be able to do an identity trace via your bank especially if you make it legal using the money laundering regulations.
Besides - you should be able to prove the advertising of the nike, sale date using transfer, then your location at the time of the offence.
DVLA do keep the reg keeper as responsible until notified otherwise but other way is to write them a letter stating date of sale/export, etc and see where it goes from there.

Yes mate, but it all happened so quick, it was only when i get in from work realised my lad had given the courier all the log book, and yes a bit naive, i just thought well he'll register it now, especially as worth so much!!!!!
